Hump Day Wisdom: Rest and Relaxation
When was the last time you took a vacation? You know, the kind where you did not check email or voice mail.
We all need a break now and again. In fact, research has clearly demonstrated that we perform better at work when we have properly rested. There was a time when this made vacations nearly impossible for executives and entrepreneurs. Today however, we have systems and processes that can provide us with freedom to take a break.
I am writing this edition of Hump Day Wisdom on Sunday because on Tuesday afternoon when I usually post these, I will be in Yosemite National Park, most of the way up Half Dome.
So, when was the last time you took a vacation? The kind where you did not check in at the office, or on email or on voice mail? What would be different about your performance if your job were set up so that you could truly be off the grid for 2 weeks, actually relaxing? And on this Wednesday, what could you delegate, automate or otherwise change to allow you to take a step closer to being able to fully unplug from the office? Can you put it in place by Friday?
