A Simple Tool for Complex Decisions

Leaders have to make decisions every day.  Most will tell you that the bigger the impact of the decision, the tougher it is to make.  As one COO recently put it, "Life was simpler when everything I had to decide was a data driven no-brainer?"

There are about a gazillion tools for making decisions ranging from decision trees to the old Ben Franklin close (ask a salesman if you do not know what that is.)  None are sure fire, but here is a tool that works surprisingly often.

Look at the choices. Then decide what you would do if your 12 year old kid were looking over your shoulder and understood the implications of the choices you have.  You may not make that choice, but you will know where your heart is.
